Description: This is a picture of the Golden Lamb Hotel in Lebanon, Ohio. The hotel is located at the corner of Broadway and Main Street. This photo shows the front of the hotel with several old cars parked in front. The Golden Lamb, formerly the old Lebanon House, is the oldest hotel in the state of Ohio. Established in 1803 by Jonas Seaman, it became known for its quality food and lodging. Two years later the Warren County courthouse was built across the street, increasing the business of the Golden Lamb. The tavern served as a meeting place for troops during the War of 1812 and as a stagecoach stop during the nineteenth century. The present day, four-story building was built in 1815 during the rebuilding of the inn. The inn has had many famous guests such as Mark Twain, Charles Dickens, and twelve U.S. Presidents. Description: This is a picture of the Corwin Estate, located in Lebanon, Ohio. The house belonged to former Ohio Governor Thomas Corwin, who lived here from 1839 until his death in 1865. Corwin held many political positions including member of the Ohio House of Representatives and the United States House of Representatives, U.S. Senator, 15th Governor of Ohio, 20th Secretary of the Treasury, and U.S. Ambassador to Mexico. Corwin earned the nickname "The Wagon Boy" after he served as a wagon boy in General William Henry Harrison's army during the War of 1812, and he is also considered to be one of the most effective political orators of his time.
